Welcome to my blog and the first post

Hello, I am Finn Steinway. Welcome to my blog and the first post.

Novels (5 book series with two completed), allegories, nonfiction, a children’s book and short stories to date will be discussed along with how the process of an idea in a flash turns into a completed, published book a year later.

I started writing and became an author upon my move to Florida in 2018. Originally from upstate New York, then residencies on the north and south shores of Boston, I retired from shoveling snow, dropped the golf putter and picked up the pen. Yes, I still hand write ideas and then transfer to the laptop.

Why so many categories?

The decision to let stories flow, rather than cutting off all but one genre, feels right. While I want my books to sell, it is most important that the stories that come to me, be allowed to move beyond me and see where they will end up. With the COVID pandemic, I was not irritated with isolation, but rather used the quiet time to let four books swimming in my head settle into their respective lanes. Even more are waiting for their chance to dive in.

Listing of work:

• Mr. Longstory Meets Mr. Longstory, a children’s book about instilling confidence from a parent or guardian, was my first published work (under Christopher G. Nicholson)

• Two novels (CLAP & ALIEN ALCHEMY) were completed in the next two years and were to be the only ones with Christian O’Donnell as the main character. That has turned into a five book series with the third novel started and set to be released by summer of 2024.

• Aldee, Alda & Miracle Baby, Florida Bald Eagle Nest LA015 (nonfiction, under Christopher G. Nicholson)

• A book on experts in marriage surviving 18,250 days is set to be released by November of 2023 (nonfiction)

Why write?

I have to. It is as simple as that. I couldn’t stop if I wanted to. The faucet turned on. I hope it doesn’t shut off.

Who are my favorite writers?

The first book I truly felt a connection to was ‘The Outsiders’ by S.E. Hinton. That was in high school. Continuing in storytelling, John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice and Men’ and ‘Travels with Charlie, In Search of America.’ Then there is Hemingway’s ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’ Thanks for the visit.

Talk soon,

Finn
